How to live through the offences? Is Bhagavan Shree Narayana The One Who stands behind ill-treatment of prapanna?

The following excerpt from #"Essence of Srimad RahasyaTraya Saram of Sriman Nigamanta Maha Desikar"# will be comprehensible more by prapannas from Shree Ramanuja-Sampradaya, but actually the following recommendations by Shree Vedanta Desika are universal and suit to any Vaishnava.

The excerpt explains the nature of offences/ill-treatment/past karma.

Please note that the concept of "minor punishment" from Bhagavan Shree Narayana to prapanna is inherent to the Siddhanta of Vadakalai (Shree Vedanta Desika, the Northern Branch of Shree Ramanuja Sampradaya), so the theme of prapanna's ill-treatment is closely connected with "minor punishment" Siddhanta.

"Minor punishment" means that Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi and Bhagavan Shree Narayana love their prapannas too much, so The Divya Dampatti (The Divine Pair) can't punish prapanna in the way They usually punish common jivas. So, the system of "minor punishments" for prapannas exist.

You can find more information regarding the "minor punishment" theme in the classic Granthas of Shree Vadakalai-Sampradaya (#"Shree Rahasya-Ratnavali-Hridayam"#, for example).

And of course offences/sufferings subject is connected with "the submission to the Will of Bhagavan Shree Narayana" (which is the foundation stone of Prapatti as it is!) and Sharira-shariri (jiva being Chit-Shakti and a property of Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana simultaneously).

For this reason the essence of true Prapatti in the context of Shree Narayana-Ashtakshara-Mantra (8-Syllable Mantra of Bhagavan Shree Narayana - The Supreme, Royal Mantra among all existing Vaishnava Mantras) is also being explained below.

OM VISHNUPAD SHREE VEDANTA DESIKA MAHACHARYA, "SRIMAD RAHASYA-TRAYA-SARA", A PART OF "SWANISTABHIJNA-ADHIKARA" CHAPTER:

If a prapanna has the following characteristics, he can  know that he is steadfast in his essential nature:

1 - Jiva. When someone accuses him, and speaks of many faults, one should realise that they do not relate to his essential nature (jiva, soul), but only relate to the body and others, and so, should be free from sorrow or depression.

2 - Karma. As pointed out in the verse शप्यमानस्य यत्पापं शपन्तं अधिगच्छति [shapyamAnasya yatpApaM shapantaM adhigachChati]*** - "a person who abuses someone, would be amassing sin for himself, and would be getting tainted with the sin of the abused" - a prapanna should pity those people who abuse him and thus harm themselves by getting his sin.
***Note by Vishnudut1926: [shapyamAnasya yatpApaM...] is a classic Verse from "Shree MahaBharata" (Ashwamedhika Parva).
3 - Gratitude. When someone abuses a prapanna, he should feel grateful to the abuser, who will be reminding him of his faults plausible in him.

"Upakara-smriti" or having a sense of being helped by him for thinking of his nature, as pointed by Shree YamunAcharya in "Shree Stotra-Ratnam" as अमर्यादः क्षुद्र: [amaryAdaH kShudra:]*** and etc., and as expressed by Tirumangai Alwar in the verse "I have grieved and grieved".

All the faults are plausible in him, and the abuser has done a good service to him by making him remember his faults.
***Note by Vishnudut1926: अमर्यादः क्षुद्र: [amaryAdaH kShudra:] is the Verse 62 from #"Shree Stotra-Ratnam" by Shree YamunAcharya#:
अमर्यादः क्षुद्रश्चलमतिरसूयाप्रसवभु:
कृतघ्नो दुर्मानी स्मरपरवशो वञ्चनपरः।
नृशंसः पापिष्ठः कथमहमितो दुःखजलधेः
अपारादुत्तीर्णस्तव परिचरेयं चरणयोः । । ६२ । ।
amaryAdaH kShudrashchalamatirasUyAprasavabhu:
kRRitaghno durmAnI smaraparavasho va~nchanaparaH|
nRRishaMsaH pApiShThaH kathamahamito duHkhajaladheH
apArAduttIrNastava parichareyaM charaNayoH | | 62 | |
Translation: "I have been a transgressor of the Shastras, an evil person, fickle minded, the home for envy, lascivious, deceitful, cruel and most wicked. How may I, crossing the boundless sea of misery, serve Your (MahaNarayana) Lotus Feet?"
4 - The Will of Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana. A prapanna should be convinced of the fact that those that abuse him, are behaving so, only according to the will and prompting of the Supreme Paramatman (Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana), on account of his past karma as well as the past karma of the abuser.

All people in this world are by their essential nature, dependent on Paramatman and are all dominated by karma.

So, anything done by anybody, is on account of one’s own karma alone and therefore, a prapanna should not become disturbed in his mind, when he is ill-treated or abused or insulted by someone.

5 - Prarabdha-karma. When somebody humiliates a prapanna or abuses him, that prapanna should feel rejoicement as he will be exhausting the store of his past karma (prarabdha), by being subject to such kind of humiliation.

Essential nature of jiva and Shree Ashtakshara-Mantra.

If one will be thinking on these lines, he can understand that he is steadfast in his essential nature (essential nature of jiva as of being submissive to The Will of Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana), as understood from the first word i.e. "pranava" and the second word viz. "namas" or the Supreme Mantra of Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana:

ॐ नमो नारायणाय - OM namo nArAyaNAya

The dropped dative case on अकार [akAra] in the "pranava", signifies the subservience of the jiva to Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana and the मकार [makAra] signifies that he is endowed with "jnanam" or consciousness which is to be agreeable to all living beings.

The second word "namas" signifies dependence on Paramatman, utter helplessness and wishing good of all, according to the will of Paramatman.

So a prapanna will be realising that he is subservient to and dependent upon the Paramatman alone, and he is to be used by the Supreme Paramatman (that is by Bhagavan Shree MahaNarayana), as MahaNarayana wills, and all these signify his essential nature and if a prapanna realises these things, he can know that he is steadfast in his essential nature".

MUKTALIB5.ORG: E-Library with primary PanchaRatra Granthas in UTF-8 and Harvard-Kyoto

Owing to the Anugraha of Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi and Bhagavan Shree Vishnu we are living in the amazing Kali-Yuga and one of this Kali-Yuga wonders is that you can find PanchaRatra Granthas without any hindrances.

The E-Library from the headline (http://muktalib5.org/digital_library.htm) contains primary PanchaRatra Granthas in TXT/HTML (UTF-8, Velthuis, Harvard-Kyoto, CSX+).

This E-Library is somewhat hidden among other segments of the muktalib5.org website, so below is "how to access"-guide:

Once on the site (http://muktalib5.org/digital_library.htm) go into "Searchable E-Text Library"

Then "Click here to enter digital library". Use username and password marked in yellow (they are striked out, but working).

After that you will be relocated into E-Library. This E-Library is rather small, so no need to use "Search", it will be faster to look through all the titles.

In order to do this, use "BY TITLE"-sorting.

For example, you would like to download "Aniruddha-Samhita" in order to keep searchable HTML-file on your hard drive (hdd) and make search in it via "CTRL+F".

Just click "Aniruddha-Samhita" title in the left window and look into the right window - it has links to Unicode (UTF-8), Harvard-Kyoto and etc.

After that just open, for example, "View in Unicode"-link in new Tab (via right mouse button or via middle mouse button). You will be redirected to the file.

Afterwards press "CTRL+S" in order to save HTML-version on your hard drive.

The list of The PanchaRatra Granthas I have downloaded from this E-Library on 15-jan-2018 night is in the beginning of the post on sepia screenshot!

P.S. If you are interested in the E-Libraries of similar kind, then you can visit #GRETIL# (Puranas, Vedas, Upanishads and etc.) and #SANSKRITDOCUMENTS.ORG# (all kinds of Sanskrit Texts, including rare Stotras and etc.)...

O Lord of sacred Venkatachala Hills! Please get up from Your slumber".

Gloss: "This slokam, as it is quite clear, describes the Dasavataram aspect of Lord Shree VenkatEsha.

Just as in times of yore, He has condescended to come down on earth in several forms and shapes to rid the world from evil and to restore the good, so too He has now come in this Kali age - before Kalki comes in - as Shree VenkatEsha (BalaJi) to give succour to His devotees, who seek His protection and to a certain extent, easen the task of Kalki - the Destroyer of all sufferings of this Kali age".

"MahaPurusha-Nirnaya" by Shree YamunAcharya...

IT WOULD BE FINE TO FIND "MAHAPURUSHA-NIRNAYA" BY SHREE YAMUNACHARYA, BUT THE GRANTHA IS CONSIDERED TO BE LOST. DR. V. VARADACHARI WRITES THE FOLLOWING IN HIS #"YAMUNACHARYA"# TREATISE:

"The 8th and the last work of Shree YamunAcharya is "MahaPurusha-Nirnaya". As this title indicates, this work contained the author’s sound reasonings for deciding and determining Vishnu as the Supreme Deity.

Vishnu is here referred to as MahaPurusha, meaning "The Great Purusa, Paramatma or Purusottama". This work is referred to by the author in his AgamaPramanya where he adduces evidences for proving Vishnu’s Supremacy over other gods.

In this context, he mentions the name of the work in which he had already given ample proofs for deciding Supremacy over gods in favour of Vishnu.

This work is, however, lost and is known from references in the Agamapramanya of the author and the Nyayasiddharyana of Vedanta Desika".

The division of Puranas (Satvika, Rajasika, Tamasika) explained...

Shree AnandaTirtha (MadhvAcharya) in "Shree MahaBharata-Tatparya-Nirnaya" mentions the classic division of Puranas: 6 Satvika Puranas, 6 Rajasa Puranas and 6 Tamasika Puranas.

Apart from this division a less known classification from "Shree Garuda-Purana" (Moksha-Kanda) exists, it mentions only 3 Puranas as truly Satvika in Kali-Yuga - "Shree Vishnu-Purana", "Shree Bhagavata-Purana" and "Shree Garuda-Purana", but OM VishnuPad Shree MadhvAcharya follows to the standard and more well-known 6-fold classification.

Shree AnandaTirtha, "Shree MahaBharata-Tatparya-Nirnaya": "Sri Vyasa taught Rgveda to Paila. Krishna Yajurveda to Vaisampayana. Shukla Yajurveda to Surya. Samaveda to Jaimini. Atharvana Veda to Sumantu. He taught all the lores to His son Suka and Narada.

Then, Sri Vyasa created Romaharsana as a Suta by caste and instructed him to propagate Itihasa, Purana and PanchaRatra. He instructed SanatKumara, Bhrgu and Jaimini to propagate DhyanaYoga, Karmayoga and Karma-Mimamsa respectively.

Sri Vyasa himself composed the first and the last sutras of DaiviMimamsa and asked Paila and Sesa to compose the whole text.

Further, he edited:
1. The 6 Satvika Puranas viz. Vishnu, Narada, Bhagavata, Garuda, Padma and Varaha based on PanchaRatra.
2. The 6 Rajasa Puranas viz., Brahma, Brahmanda, Brahmavaivarta, Markandeya, Bhavisya and Vamana based on superficial references in Vedas, and
3. The 6 Tamasa Puranas viz. Matsya, Kurma, Linga, Siva, Skanda and Agni based on Pashupata Agama".

What is Bhagavata-Dharma and what makes a human tamasika?

GREAT EXCERPT FROM #MAHABHARATA TATPARYA-NIRNAYA" BY OM VISHNUPAD SHREE MADHVACHARYA (ANANDATIRTHA)#. BHISMA EXPLAINS BHAGAVATA-DHARMA TO PANDAVAS:

Bhisma said “to follow Bhagavata dharma is highest Dharma". He stated the essential points of Bhagavata dharma:

i) Vishnu is The Supreme Deity, everyone else is under His control

ii) All other deities are His devotees

iii) one should perform one’s duties without aiming at any benefit

iv) one should not do anything that is opposed to the devotees of Vishnu.

Further, Bhisma stated the duties of the four classes of people:

i) A brahmana should perform his prescribed duties. He should not cause any pain to anyone,

ii) A brahmana should not earn his livelihood. He should maintain himself by teaching and priestly profession,

iii) A ksatriya should protect the people,

iv) He should use sama, dana etc. carefully

v) A vaisya should undertake agriculture, commerce, money lending etc.

vi) A sudra should serve the other 3 classes for his maintenance,

vii) Brahmana has to dissiminate knowledge. If a brahmana is not available a ksatriya or vaisya may do so.

viii) Men of first three classes can study all lores (Vidyas) including Vedas. Women can study Itihasa and Purana.***

***Note by Vishnudut1926: Women and shudras actually belong to tamasika persons, but they can obtain Mukti via Vaishnava Itihasa, Puranas and Bhakti. See all the classic Pramanas from "Shree Vedanta-Sutra" and, for example, Shree Vadiraja-Tirtha glosses to "Shree Rukminisha-Vijaya" regarding this theme:

Besides, for example, #"Shree Iswara-Samhita"# (Vaishnava-PanchaRatra), Verse 4.202 says - शुद्रैस्तु स्थापिते स्त्रीभिः तामसाख्यं समाचरेत्  - shudraistu sthApite strIbhiH tAmasAkhyaM samAcharet - "Temples constructed by shudras and women belong to tamasika kind"...

Bhisma also explained the nature of three types of persons viz. sattvika, rajasa, and tamasa:

i) The tamasa persons do not consider Vishnu as Supreme:

a. They treat Him as equal to other deities.
b. They also do not consider Vishnu as possessing infinite number of qualities.
c. They distinguish between His MulaRupa and AvataraRupa.
d. They think that Visnu undergoes pleasure and pain, birth and death in AvataraRupas.

These people will fall into deep darkness.

ii) Middle level (rajasa) people will be born again and again as men (humans, manushya).

iii) Those who have firm and right knowledge about Bhagavan Shree Vishnu (satvika persons, who DON'T follow to the above mentioned errors of tamasika people) are superior people. They attain Mukti".

Shree Lakshmi-Avesha and Dwaraka-Leela...

THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT FROM #MAHABHARATA TATPARYANIRNAYA OF SRI ANANDATEERTHA# [PAGE 90]  EXPLAINS THAT ONLY SHREEMATI RUKMINI-DEVI AND SHREEMATI SATYABHAMA-DEVI WERE THE FULL AVATARAS OF SHREEMATI LAKSHMI-DEVI DURING DWARAKA LEELA, WHILE OTHER PRINCESSES HAD ONLY "LAKSHMI-AVESHA" IN THEM:

"Krishna married Kalindi the sister of Yamuna. He married Nila by controlling seven bulls simultaneously.

Shri Krishna married Mitravinda defeating her brothers Vinda and Anuvinda. He also married Bhadra and Laksmana.

The condition for seeking the hand of Laksmana was more difficult than that of Draupadi. The aim of the arrow was placed reverting it and the arrow had to move above and hit it moving back.

Jarasandha, Duryodhana and others failed. Arjuna tried, but deliberately did not hit. He knew that She was to be married by Shri Krishna. Bhima did not even look at the bow out of high regard for Shri Krishna.
These marriages resulted in Shri Krishna having 8 Queens: Rukmini, Satyabhama, Jambavati, Kalindi, Nila, Mitravinda, Bhadra and Laksmana.
The first two were Full Incarnations of Goddess Lakshmi. The others had only the avesha of Lakshmi".
